Forgiveness

Forgiving can sometimes be difficult.

Someone may have done something so inexcusable, so how could you possibly forgive them?

Ephesians 4:32 says β€œπ΅π‘’ π‘˜π‘–π‘›π‘‘ π‘Žπ‘›π‘‘ π‘π‘œπ‘šπ‘π‘Žπ‘ π‘ π‘–π‘œπ‘›π‘Žπ‘‘π‘’ π‘‘π‘œ π‘œπ‘›π‘’ π‘Žπ‘›π‘œπ‘‘β„Žπ‘’π‘Ÿ, π‘“π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘”π‘–π‘£π‘–π‘›π‘” π‘’π‘Žπ‘β„Ž π‘œπ‘‘β„Žπ‘’π‘Ÿ, 𝑗𝑒𝑠𝑑 π‘Žπ‘  𝑖𝑛 πΆβ„Žπ‘Ÿπ‘–π‘ π‘‘ πΊπ‘œπ‘‘π‘“π‘œπ‘Ÿπ‘”π‘Žπ‘£π‘’ π‘¦π‘œπ‘’.β€œ

We forgive others because Christ forgave us. No one said forgiving would be easy, because being a Christian isn’t easy.

If we don’t forgive, then we keep those hurt feelings in our heart and that can start to build up overtime.

I watched a sermon by Pastor Shawn Johnson, where he talked about When Past Hurts Still Hurt. He spoke about how past hurts can affect your mind/body/life, if you don’t forgive.

To sum up the sermon he lists these key steps to forgiveness:

  1. Acknowledge the hurt

  2. Surrender my right to punish

  3. Pray for them

  4. Be open to reconciliation

  5. Pray for divine strength, healing and freedom

I highly recommend watching this sermon. The link to the YouTube video is: https://youtu.be/7DbN69qAuyM

So dear friend, if you’re holding onto hurt that someone has done to you, let go of that hurt and forgive. Allow God to show you peace that comes from forgiveness.
